Self Aid

Self-help activities
The mental illness of a loved one can lead to feelings of social isolation.
The need to talk, to exchange with other people who are going through similar situations and who will understand our reactions is quite normal.
This is why we have different formulas, at different times, that will meet this need.
Talks around a theme
An experienced speaker leads these talks every Tuesday morning via the ZOOM platform.
Keep an eye on our calendar of activities!

Demystifying to break down prejudices
These activities raise awareness of mental health issues and stigma among the public and in various settings.
Annual Mental Illness Awareness Campaign
Running in the first full week of October, this national campaign is orchestrated by our Federation, the Réseau Avant de Craquer. We undertake, with the help of Federation promotional materials, actions to raise awareness among targeted clientele living in our territory.
National Mental Health Week

Introducing yourself to the court

Presenting a demand for a temporary confinement
An accompaniment service is offered to family members who must apply for an order for psychiatric evaluation under the Act respecting the protection of persons whose mental state presents a danger to themselves or to others.
The only reason that allows the family or family members to apply for provisional custody of a loved one for psychiatric evaluation is that his or her mental state presents a danger to himself or herself or to others and he or she refuses to go to counseling on his or her own.
We find the statement of this ground in Article 27 of the Quebec Civil Code, which reads as follows:
“If there are serious grounds for believing that a person presents a danger to himself or to others by reason of his mental state, the court may, at the request of a physician or an interested person, order that he be, despite the absence of consent, temporarily kept in a health or social services institution to undergo a psychiatric examination. “
Help for preparing the demand
It is important to demonstrate that the person’s mental condition presents a danger to himself or herself or others.
We will assist you in identifying facts and observations related to the person’s recent behaviors must be set forth in the petition;
Preparatory steps for the presentation of the application to the Court
We will help you make an appointment at the courthouse to get a hearing with a civil court judge.
